The Love Island star was informed her boyfriend cheated while doing a personal appearance.
Megan Barton Hanson has reacted to claims that her boyfriend Wes Nelson cheated on her while making a personal appearance in Worcester.
The Love Island star branded the claims “pure s**te” as she shared a screenshot of a direct message she received from a fan.
“I get dm’s chatting pure s**te,” Megan commented on Instagram Stories.
The message in question read: “I’m from Worcester and Wes did an appearance.
“Apparently he has slept with a girl called ***** and they have signed a contract to keep it a secret.”
It’s not the first time Megan has run into trouble on social media.
She came away from Love Island with a new boyfriend and a sudden surge of popularity – but not all of it was welcome.
While she was one of the most talked about contestants on the show, the former glamour model also became a hate-figure with viewers critising her for moving between partners and causing arguments with the other girls.
But in a heart-felt essay, Meghan previously revealed she’s been slut-shamed since the age of 16 and refused to be embarrassed by her behaviour.
After getting intimate with two men during her time in Love Island , Megan said her housemates had warned her how her behaviour might be coming across to viewers at home.
But it wasn’t until she was pulled to one side by an ITV press officer on the night of the grand final that Megan understood the reception she’d got on the outside world.
It was then that she learned the friend she’d trusted to run her social media pages had been forced to turn the comments off following a barrage of daily abuse.
“I was receiving death threats and 99% were slut shaming me,” Megan wrote in i News.
But she said the bullying was sadly nothing new.
“‘I’ve been labelled a slut from the age of around 16, mainly by boys I had dated, or boys I had turned down, until my group of friends started to join in by calling me “the slut of the group”.
Megan added: “It’s incredible that in 2018 this sort of thing is still going on and it’s not just men slut-shaming women, its women too.”
The former stripper said she was disheartened to discover how her behaviour on the ITV2 dating show had shocked the nation.
She had first coupled up with Eyal Booker before breaking things off with him to find love with Wes Nelson, who was with Laura Anderson at the time.
Megan said her fellow contestants warned off having sex again in the house, but she admitted this proved ‘tricky when you are falling in love and living with the person 24/7.’
But despite the backlash, Megan said she refused to feel ashamed of her behaviour.
Giving a slight dig at her fellow contestants by saying she didn’t go on the show to bag a ‘hair contract’ or to ‘become famous’, Megan said she hoped to use her time in the spotlight to teach about slut-shaming, feminism, cosmetic surgery and mental health.
