Julia Roberts La Vie Est Belle Lancome Perfume Ad Campaign: Wrong Message

Oooh, you are going to love this! Constantly under fire for too much retouching and un – real skin smoothing, Lancome is sticking by its spokesgirl. Julia Roberts returns for Lancome’s La Vie Est Belle perfume ad campaign. And while the print ad campaign is, as you’d expect, full of smooth Photoshop moves, the video commercial is so much more rewarding!

Julia Roberts La Vie Est Belle Lancome Perfume Ad Campaign: Wrong Message

Because I always love a good laugh and this video took me there, you’ve got to watch it! (that’s because I’m an incurable optimistic and I refuse to see the dark side of the said commercial!) Don’t expect it to be funny or witty. Expect… nothing!…

…because that’s what you’ll get! Nothing! It’s such a style – empty commercial! First: Julia Roberts in white, walking in a room full of people dressed in black. That’s surely something we’ve never seen before! And (you’re welcome to disagree, but you know it’s true) Julia Roberts’ walk – at least in high heels – can make any duck yellow with envy (here’s a 10second – duck walk epiphany)!

Oh, and what’s with the spider – sparkling web – marionettes? Is there some kind of metaphor I’m not feeling here? Something that has to do with “Life is Beautiful” – Lancome’s perfume name? Seriously, people, just because you put on a white dress for a black tie soiree and duck – walk up some stairs doesn’t send a beautiful life message! Especially when you’re in a visibly high tower above the city and the windows are open wide! (this was triggered by a tFS posting)

Julia Roberts Dazzles For Lancome’s Latest Fragrance Ad

She has been working with Lancome for over two years and it looks like  Julia Roberts just gets more beautiful with time when it comes to showing off the company's products.

Julia Roberts Dazzles For Lancome's Latest Fragrance Ad

In the latest fragrance ad, the Academy award-winning actress looks stunning in a floor-length white dress and subtle waves in her hair as she makes her way through a crowded room where La Vie Est Belle bottles hang from the chandeliers.

This is the first fragrance campaign that Julia has done for the company, but according to Youcef Nabi, president of Lancome, she was the perfect choice, telling Women's Wear Daily, "The only person that could embody this kind of joyful femininity, this woman that could be all women at the same time – in their honesty, truth and diversity – is Julia Roberts."

As for the fragrance, the scent was devised by three French masters of perfumery, Olivier Polge, Dominique Ropion and Anne Flipo. They included 63 different ingredients to make the "the first ever feminine iris" scent.

As for the 44-year-old actress, it seems that having a great perfume is an important accessory for her, telling Hello magazine, "I like to smell nice. And I think it is best when perfume is kind of there, but still draws people in. You have to get close to figure out what you're dealing with."

Roberts also added that the fragrance is subtle in its marketing, which is something she really enjoys, explaining, "The bottle is beautiful. And in this day and age when everything's about the brand and everything's got the name of the company and the person and the place stamped all over it, what I think is amazing is that there's nothing written on the bottle."

Julia Roberts developing workplace comedy for ABC

Julia Roberts is getting into the TV game. The Oscar-winner is developing a TV show called Taming of the Shrew, EW confirms. But fans of the Bard, don’t get too excited — this project is not related to the play of the same name by William Shakespeare. The show has thus far been only described as a half-hour workplace comedy that “follows a horrible boss and the employees trying to reign her in.” Deadline first reported the news.

The project is also not to be mistaken with another workplace comedy Roberts began developing last year, a feature called Second Act. ABC bought Taming of the Shrew, which Roberts is developing with longtime collaborator Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, who first started working with Roberts as her agent 23 years ago. The duo previously produced together An American Girl Adventure and Abigail Breslin-starring Kit Kittredge: An American Girl. Roberts will produce Taming of the Shrew but has no plans to act in it. ABC will later determine whether to move forward to shoot a pilot for the show.
